Five Places in Spain You Have to Visit This Year

(PRWEB) May 06, 2011

Jet2.com announce reduced flight prices to nine Spanish destinations as 2011 looks set to be a busy year for the country

Predictions are suggesting that Spain is back in favour with British tourists and, according to a report by the Post Office, it offers the best value for money on holiday essentials.

The popular destination beat the likes of Portugal, Italy and emerging Croatia to top spot. One of the other reasons that Spain is basking in a surge of popularity is because of a range of events and attractions well worth visiting this year.

Both mainland Spain and the popular Canary and Balearic Islands offer some memorable events and places to see.

Malaga Renaissance Underway

For so often anyone arriving in Malaga for a holiday will only notice its beauty through the window of the bus or taxi. This is because most people are heading off to the party resorts of the Costa Del Sol.

However, the city is making a comeback as a holiday destination in its own right. Earlier this year the Picasso Museum went through a refurbishment that saw many of the paintings, sculptures and drawings reorganised. Now the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is set to inject further culture into the city.

Whilst many of the more established cities initially spring to mind, Malaga shouldn’t be overlooked when looking for a cultural break.

Majorca Keeps Rocking

Last year was the inaugural Majorca Rocks which launched to a lot of fanfare. Having got the first one out of the way, the organisers have been busy making this year’s bigger and better.

Expect more big names like Plan B to bring in the crowds. It is a great way to ensure that any party animals don’t miss out on the action this summer.

Throw Tomatoes at Strangers

You’d probably get some funny looks and possibly a few angry responses if you did this on any normal day but 31 August 2011 in Bunol, near Valencia, is no normal day. This is the day when La Tomatina comes to town.

Locals and visitors alike will gather and wait as tonnes of tomatoes are unleashed, ready to be hurled at the crowds. It’s a messy day so don’t wear your best garb, but it’s a day well worth experiencing!

Michelin Starred Cuisine in Valencia

Often over-shadowed by its more ostentatious neighbour, Barcelona, Valencia offers many unexpected treats for visitors travelling through or staying in the city.

The Arrop seafood restaurant has seen a Michelin star awarded to its chef Ricard Camarena in 2010, meaning there are now six Michelin starred restaurants in Valenica. This should certainly appeal to any foodies.

The Quiet New Canary Island of La Graciosa

No longer are Canary Island holidays all about Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote. La Graciosa is attracting plenty of visitors to its relaxing and more sedate way of life. There are only 600 residents on the island that has soft golden sand beaches, whitewashed houses and absolutely no cars.

Jet2.com are now offering cheap flights to all of their Spanish destinations at a reduced summer price, giving you more chances to visit more of Spain.

Getting Cheap Air Flights to Spain – What are Your Options?

By admin On August 4, 2011 No Comments

With gorgeous sunshine and fabulous beaches, Spain is a favorite holiday destination for millions of northern Europeans all through the year. British, German, Irish and Scandinavian holiday makers flock to Spain and its colonies around North Africa for the beautiful weather and buzzing night life. If you are looking for cheap air flights to Spain it is best that you make your bookings as early as possible as the fares keep rising as D-Day approaches. Last minute cheap air flights to Spain can be very difficult to find.

Getting a Good Deal on Vacation Packages to Spain

There’s good news on the horizon though; if the opportunity to travel suddenly came up, there are several travel agents that have last minute package deals incorporating hotel or apartment costs for a one week or two week vacation to Spain. Through the vacation packages, you pay for your accommodation as well as the flights and perhaps some of your meals too. These packages may be expensive when compared to the costs of a standalone flight, but they will be well worth it when you consider accommodation costs are also included. You can also get good deals on car hire and other travel costs covered alongside these package deals.

Get the Best Deal on Cheap Air Flights to Spain

If you have enough time before your planned departure date, you can always find deals on cheap air flights to Spain available from other parts of Europe. It is usually the case that the longer between the time of the booking and the actual flight, the better the deal will be. So you might snap up a deal for as little as 1 Euro or 1 British pound (excluding or sometimes including taxes and charges) from a low cost carrier and the very next day the price of a ticket on the same flight will have gone up to fifty euro. You may also get a great deal on an outgoing flight but the return journey will be costly or at least the same standard fare you’d expect to pay on a flight. As with other offers, you may also have to remain in Spain for a number of days in order to get the best value on cheap air flights to Spain.

Best Airlines for Cheap Air Flights to Spain

EasyJet and Ryanair, two of the most popular low cost carriers in Europe offer no frills flights from northern Europe to southern Europe between most major cities. However, they often do not serve major airports as it is more cost effective for them to run their businesses out of secondary airports that don’t charge as much in fees. If you are traveling from London to Spain, you are more likely to get cheap air flights originating from Gatwick, Stansted or Luton rather than from Heathrow.

Nevertheless, you should exercise caution when booking a flight on a no frills airline, particularly to a secondary airport. You should note that when booking cheap air flights to Spain with a low cost carrier, you may find that any savings you have made doing away with all those luxuries on a standard flight could be swallowed up when you are getting from a regional airport to the city center!
